Simple Yet Forgotten Tips for Living a Healthier and Longer Life

These tips have been working fabulously for me

Here is a simplistic and basic list of things to do to live a healthy life.

The purpose of this article is to remind people how basic things can add a lot of value in the long run if you do them consistently.

Ask yourself these two questions before jumping on the basics

1 — Do you wake up most mornings feeling sluggish?

2 — Have caffeinated beverages become a must-have to get you through the day?

If the answer is yes, right now is the best time to forgo the shortcuts and focus on some sustainable solutions.

I have done 15+ 30-day challenges and still feel that starting always seems a bit scary and hard. But once you realize the benefits of a happier, healthier, and more productive lifestyle, you’ll stay motivated to keep going.

Move your body

It would be a multibillion-dollar industry if exercise could be bottled and marketed as a medicine.

Decades of research suggest that 20 minutes of moderate to vigorous daily physical activity reduces the risk of physiological and psychological disorders. I wrote this detailed experiential story on this topic. Here are some of the benefits.

Study shows that merely a 10-minute walk can help to boost your mood. I added 10 more to hit the national exercise required to make it at least 150 minutes at the end of the week.

Walking is great for lowering your blood sugar level. According to the American Diabetes Association, daily walking helps decrease blood sugar and mitigate diabetes risk.

Daily walking is a great exercise to burn more calories to stay under healthy weight and also help to strengthen the cardiorespiratory system.

Eat real foods and say no to supplements.

I’m not a big believer in vitamins and all that stuff. — Jamie Moyer

We all agree that supplements are not a replacement for a healthy diet.

Although many health professionals advocate taking a multivitamin and mineral supplement that has 100 to 200 percent of your RDV, each supplement should be thoroughly tested for safety.

Specific supplements have been linked to toxicity, drug interactions, and an increased risk of illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

I know this is a highly controversial topic; please discuss it with your physician before you jump on any supplements. All those shining bottles are not good for your health.

Enjoy nature and its health benefits.

I am an avid hiker and love to go on long, arduous hikes. I live in a hill station, and sometimes it’s easy to take nature for granted.

If someone asks me what the best healthy habit you developed in a decade is, I would say hiking.

Here are some of the health benefits:

It boosts your immune system.

Lower your blood pressure

Get a good sleep

The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night’s sleep.

— Dr. Matthew Walker

The average adult needs 7–8 hours of good-quality sleep to function properly. However, some need more or less. For example, I can sleep max 6–7 hours, and if I sleep more than 6 hours, I usually get tired and feel lethargic all day. I also shared my top 6 habits to sleep better at the end.

Here are a couple of articles I wrote on sleep.
