It isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about. — Dale Carnegie
Happiness is our holy grail.
Every year, we spend billions of dollars on self-help books and seminars to get a piece of the pie that we call happiness.
We relate our unhappy lives to immediate things like jobs, friends, family, and other material things.
In reality, happiness is something that each of us is qualified to experience on any given day.
Most of the time, happiness depends on ourselves.
My proven happiness tip — always work
If your limbs are working, and you are unhappy, please go for a long walk without a phone or gadget. Walk for at least 45 minutes, preferred in nature; you will thank me after.
Let’s explore the top three things to stop immediately to get our happiness back.
Neglecting yourself and your needs
Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world. — Lucille Ball
My main unhappiness issue was disregarding what was best for me.
I keep searching outside for solutions.
I looked to society and friends for guidance on how to live.
Finding what I needed would have been too painful, so I gave up my power, hoping it would take care of everything.
No, it didn’t. Actually, it got worse.
I eventually concluded that nobody truly knows how to lead a happy life. No one, no guru, …
Some people are always confident despite their ignorance.
Even the happiest individuals experience difficult moments. And that’s completely normal.
Things started to change when I began observing the why part instead of asking people.
It proceeded slowly.
Though initially unconfident, I started to tune in to my inner peace.
How to get inner peace?
Only ONE way — meditation
I have explained in detail how meditation helped me to connect with my inner peace. In the beginning, for 1–2 weeks, you will feel nothing; magic is in 2+ weeks of meditations.

STOP talking to toxic people
Speaking with toxic, negative people drains your energy.
It depresses you.
Whether this individual is your school friend or your sister, stay away from them if your conversation with them leaves you feeling unhappy.
By the way, I also observed that almost every family has someone who always thinks about the negative aspects of life before considering any positive thing. Stay away from those people.
Solution
It is best to surround yourself with positive people. If you cannot find positive people or an introvert, make friends with books.
STOP trying to be everything for everyone.
You’ll just burn yourself.
It’s an impossible task you are trying to achieve. Give up!
I wrote another article that is related to this one.
