I started writing on Medium in December 2021, and this article was published on February 2, 2022. I’ve been publishing 1–2 stories every day since December; however, I don’t write every day.
I make sure to spend my weekends without screens.
The story gained tens of thousands of views in only a few days, and it became semi-viral almost immediately. The story gained 30,000 views in the following weeks, earning me a decent sum.
Here’s the views proof
Traffic source
As you can see, my story received 87% internal views and only 13% external traffic. You may be aware that Medium only compensates for registered users reading time.
Members reading time
The story was an instant hit; registered users spent a significant amount of time reading it. Here’s the evidence.
Why did I write that story?
For the past couple of years, I’ve been attempting to drink 3–4 liters of water every day. But that didn’t work out. I was making a huge mistake by concentrating on such a massive goal.
My objective was to drink 3–4 liters of water every day for a year. Can you imagine doing anything for a year straight? I’m not saying it’s impossible, but it will take a lot of determination.
It’s the second month of the year, and I’ve already fulfilled many goals by following this basic strategy: start small. Rather than completing my yearlong target, I broke the plan into 12 months, four weeks, and the last 24 hours.
This year my objective was to drink 3–4 liters of water in 24 hours, including fruits and snacks. If you’re interested in how I did it, click on the following link.

I was having trouble keeping track of my water consumption, so I ordered this motivational water bottle with a tracker on the side from Amazon (affiliate link). If you’re also struggling to track your water consumption throughout the day, you may purchase one.
Now, let’s get back to the views part.
I’m thrilled with the views and reading results. On Medium, I’m growing at a rate of over 1100% every month. In the third month on Medium, I never expected to make more than $100.
I also wrote a detailed article on making at least $55 each day on Medium with minimum efforts. If you’d want to have a look, here’s the link- How To Make $55/Day on Medium
Views are important, but reading is where the real money is made.
Always deliver on what you promised in the title.
Users will leave in a matter of seconds if your story is weak, and you will receive nothing in return.
Medium also pays varying rates for different niches, which I noticed. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. Maybe I’m mistaken.
You don’t have to worry about how the Medium payment wall works; all you have to do is be consistent and write compelling stories to solve a problem.
The bottom line
Medium is an easy-to-use platform. On Medium, there are many super-successful authors, for example,
Dr. Mehmet Yildiz, Ayodeji Awosika, Benjamin Hardy, Ph.D., Tim Denning and Ryan Holiday
It will, however, take some time to hone your writing skills. I’m going to use every penny earned from Medium to improve my writing skills. I think that is the most effective approach to grow.
All you need to do is emulate the process and share your own unique experiences.
I would love to see in the comments your top stories and how many views you got? Any suggestions you would like to share to improve?
